Love Your Curly Hair With Proper Care

http://img.allw.mn/www/thumbs/60/041.jpg

The Number one rule for curly hair: love it!
It always amazes me when people with naturally curly hair don't absolutely love it. So many females go to drastic measures to get straight hair when these folks possess something so amazing already. Continuously straightening your hair with a flat iron can lead to significant heat damage, and please do not get long term hair straightening methods done.
Really Adore Your Curly Hair...
Your naturally curly hair is beautiful. Whether it is long, short, small curls, or loose waves, you have many straight haired ladies wishing they had simply a little of your kink! Long curly hair, particularly once healthy can be incredibly attractive. Men generally incorporate sexiness with and consider big hair to be quite appealing. If a lady has wild yet managed curls, which are full of body, many men are drawn to that look, and associate hair with sex.
Take Care of Your Curls...
The most critical point for curly hair is to condition it. Frizzy, uncontrollable natural curls can very easily be tamed by utilizing a conditioner developed particularly for curly hair. Also, deep condition your curls once a week, with homemade available conditioners or intensive store or spa bought treatments. Also, use a glossing serum combined with a leave-in moisturizing hair product for a stellar curl look. Stiff curls that don't bounce aren't as great as a curl which you can run your fingers through yet stays molded. You can also mix leave-in with your gel or mousse to decrease the chance of the undesirable sticky look. Dry your hair upside down, on low and constantly use a diffuser. It is much better to let your curls dry naturally though. A perfect naturally curly hairstyle simple begins with proper care.
Work Them...
Now that you've got the curls you've dreamed of, flaunt them. Once your hair is totally dry, use a little bit of glossing spray and lightly mist the finished product. No matter whether you possess short curls or long curls, if you love them, other individuals can appreciate them and notice them. It is critical to be assured of yourself. Other people recognize and respond to that trait. So, if you appreciate your curls and quit talking about how considerably you would like to change them and as an alternative embrace them, other people will really like them too. You might even possess a few of the straight haired ladies wishing also much more that they had been blessed to possess your curls, even if only for a day.
Don't be challenged by your curly hair. Keep in mind that your great hair style begins with the right hair care. For more information concerning styling curly hair please visit How To Do My Hair.

Bring Back The Bounce In Your Curls

http://www.askwiki.net/inc/upload/128/how_to_curl_hair_without_heat_340.jpg

If you have naturally curly hair, you've probably discovered that a lot of the home made solutions don't really have the same impact on your hair as they do on straight or wavy hair. Because of the natural formation of curls, they tend to need more styling products to properly penetrate each hair strand. The end result, your curls get weighed down with residue from your styling products and your curls lose their vitality.
To treat this condition, curls need a little special attention. Since naturally curly hair is more prone to suffer damage from loss of moisture as well as frizziness and fly away strands, a deep cleaning rinse following by a conditioning treatment is the best course of action.
You can make your own rinse at home. A rinse will remove the build up left behind by shampoos, conditioners and styling products. The residue pulls on your hair, not only adding weight which lessens your hairs' ability to curl, but the added weight makes your hair more susceptible to splitting or breaking. Keeping the build up under control is essential for healthy curls.
Vinegar is a natural product for clean rinsing. Many people use it as a laundry rinse, since it removes soapy residue cleanly and effectively. A cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with three cups of warm water will do the same job on your hair. Apply your rinse and leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes to allow it to dissolve the build up in your curls, then rinse it clean with warm water.
Follow up your vinegar rinse with a natural deep conditioning protein treatment. Start with a cup of mayonnaise and add to it, one egg yolk and two tablespoons of liquid honey. Mix well and then generously coat your curls, allowing to penetrate for about half an hour. Mayonnaise is an egg product, and eggs are rich with protein, so this mask will give your hair much needed protein as well as improving the moisture content. Make sure you rinse your hair under running water until the water is clear and all traces of your hair mask are gone.
Performed once every week or two, this rinse and conditioning treatment will leave your curls vibrantly shiny and full of bounce.

The Best Curly Hair Products to Enhance and Maintain Curls

http://www.ehairexperts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/wpid-curly-hair.jpg

The best products for curly hair help lock-in beautiful waves that require little maintenance or styling.
For those looking for the best curly hair products, consider shampoo, conditioners and styling tools designed specifically to maintain bounce and silkiness without leaving your style drab or brittle.
Curls come in two types - ones we want to enhance and hold and ones we want to straighten, level or control.  Shampoo for curly hair uses proteins, Panthenol and botanical extracts that restructure protein bonds created by amino acids.  These bonds can be broken and "re-positioned" through chemical reaction, heat and specific shampoos and conditioners.
While many cleansers are formulated to provide adequate cleansing and conditioning, those developed to maintain curls provide active ingredients such as rice, corn or wheat proteins to penetrate the shaft.  These "actives" can either gently coat the follicle shaft for for improved shine or penetrate to the cortex and root for increased strength and holding power.
Maintaining waves - tight or large - is a function of strength.  While hairsprays, mousse and gels work very well for controlling design, humidity, heat and environmental factors work to break-down connections in the follicle shaft.  Using conditioners and shampoos designed to strengthen and provide soft, but lasting hold can greatly improve appearance, while adding shine and luster that may be stripped during chemical treatments or excessive heat from styling.
Products with Chamomile, Aloe and Hydrolyzed Keratin and collagen have been shown effective for maintaining curl strength without weigh down your style - especially useful for longer locks.  Gentle surfactants protect and help avoid damage and botanical extracts not only help your hair grow faster, they promote renewed growth for exceptional curly, soft hold.

Natural Home Remedies For An Itchy Scalp

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rt3rbkF8Vec/TugSMSRZcqI/AAAAAAAAAX8/kgX8SudFZ-A/s400/3.jpg

Sore, burning itchy scalp? Dry, painful flaky scalp and dandruff? Or does your scalp just feel not quite right?
Whichever case it may be, you'll be glad to hear that an itchy scalp can be soothed and alleviated using simple natural home remedies that can be made in as little as 10 or 15 minutes.
Please note that as with all medical conditions, I would advise you to speak to your doctor or dermatologist if you are suffering from a serious condition. If you are pregnant you MUST consult your doctor before starting any treatment.
Okay, so let's get on to the home remedies for an itchy scalp.
Itchy Scalp Remedy No. 1
Fenugreek seeds are excellent for getting rid of dandruff:
  • Take 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and soak overnight in water
  • In the morning grind the soft seeds into a fine paste
  • Apply this paste all over scalp and leave for half an hour
  • Rinse off thoroughly with soap nut solution
  • A teaspoon of lime juice on the last rinse will work wonders

Itchy Scalp Remedy No. 2
Now this one's an old folk remedy. Apple cider vinegar has been used for decades and will help restore the proper acid/alkaline balance of the scalp and kill a bacteria that clogs the pores that release oil to the scalp. It is the clogging of pores on your scalp that result in scales and crusts being formed.
  • Dilute the apple cider vinegar by 50% with water
  • Apply to the scalp and let dry. No need to rinse.
  • A similar remedy suggests pouring two tablespoons into a cup, applying the undiluted vinegar to the scalp, and leaving it on from 15 minutes to three hours before shampooing. Lemon juice may also be used.
The acid in these remedies is what helps bring the scalp back into chemical balance.
Itchy Scalp Remedy No. 3
Rosemary is great as a sore, itchy scalp remedy. Rub rosemary oil or a mixture of olive oil and crushed rosemary leaves into your scalp and leave on for 15 minutes.
If you've got a sore scalp, Chamomile is good to use as a compress for inflammation. Chamomile oil dabbed on scalp sores is very soothing. Apply to the scalp to soothe itching.
Remember to patch test all oils before applying to your scalp, so as to avoid any allergic reactions.

Solution for Falling Hair - Easy and Effective!

http://www.hongyewigs.com/blog/wp-content/blogs.dir/174/files/2013/08/hair-fall-1.jpg
The most painless yet psychologically painful ailment that afflicts us is falling hair. Falling hair is a condition that affects both men and women. If left unattended, this condition can worsen and result in permanent hair loss leading to baldness. Therefore it is very important to find a solution for your falling hair as early as possible.

The root cause for falling hair is both hereditary and hormonal. In men, the prostrate gland can trigger a loss of hair with excessive production of hormone called DHT. This hormone is a more severe version of testosterone. The excess production of this hormone results in the shrinking of hair follicles, which in turn result in falling hair.

The solution for falling hair can be a combination of medicines as prescribed by the doctor and good nutrition coupled with good grooming. Use only good quality shampoos and oil. Comb the hair gently with a god comb. Dry the hair after a head bath and then comb gently. Do not leave the hair unattended for long periods of time as this may lead to the hair becoming sticky and rough hair leading to hair loss.

Identify the factors for falling hair before looking for a solution for your falling hair. The cause varies form individual to individual. It could be any one of the below mentioned causes or a combination of factors that lead to falling hair. Stress, hormonal imbalance, ailments like Typhoid, nutritional deficiency, deficiency of Folic acid, effects of Chromotheraphy, treatment for cancer and pregnancy.

Some of the solutions for falling hair can be found at home. Use oil with extracts of Amla, or hibiscus. A combination of medicines and home remedies would be the ideal solution for falling hair.

However, there is no quick fix solution to falling hair. Regular and timely care is the only lasting solution to falling hair.

Limejuice can be applied to the scalp and allowed to dry for some time before taking a head bath. This will arrest fling hair by keeping the scalp clean and healthy.

You can also apply a paste of Fenugreek seeds soaked overnight and apply it all over the scalp. Allow it to sink in for about an hour before taking a bath.

Applying coconut milk all over the scalp is also another effective solution for falling hair. Using castor oil as hair oil regularly will also help in preventing hair from falling.

Iodine and vitamin B1 deficiency can also be the factors that lead to falling hair. Therefore look for solutions with a combination of home remedies and mild medications for a proper solution for your falling hair.

Falling hair if left untreated can lead to permanent baldness in men. In case of permanent hair loss, the only option available to men is to either wear a wig or go in for hair transplantation.

With the advent of modern medicine, hair transplantation has been fairly successful. Therefore if you suffer from falling hair do not despair, there is a suitable remedy at hand. Go for it and regain your beauty and your confidence.

Hair fall has become a serious problem not only for women but also for men. Various experts have suggested the use of shampoos as well as other hair fall prevention products. However using these products solely has failed to provide effective results and some extra care needs to be taken. Here are 10 general tips that will help you in overcoming your hair loss problem.

  • Make sure that you don't tie or comb your hair tightly because it leads to hair loss.

  • Avoid using straightening iron and blow dryer because these can easily damage the hair and negatively affect the cuticles.

  • Your diet can also greatly affect the health of your hair so drink a lot of water to prevent any kind of hair loss problems.

  • Get your hair trimmed frequently otherwise they get damaged and lead to split ends. Regular haircuts keep them beautiful and healthy.

  • Taking too much tension and stress related to work or family issues also leads to hair fall so it's best to live a happy life and stay away from tensions.

  • Take complete sleep and get massage done on the acupressure point to release or reduce stress. Reduced stress and tension will lead to healthy hair.

  • In order to make your hair beautiful and healthy, wash them with hot water and use cold water after that. This will increase the blood circulation and make your hair beautiful.

  • Avoid using rubber band for tying your hair because it causes damage and leads to hair fall.

  • Using essential fatty acid in your meals can be beneficial for your hair. These are available in oily fish and avocado.

  • Make sure you purchase superior quality hair products including quality shampoos, conditioners and serums. Inferior quality items can lead to hair fall.

3 Bun Updo

easy low bun updo
Our very own beauty all-star Elyse Reneau put down her makeup brushes to show us this 4-minute updo that’s easy as it is impressive.
Get the look:
  1. Section your hair into three low ponytails and secure each one with a rubber band.
  2. Fluff the hair to add a little texture so it’s not so flat to the head.
  3. Tease each of the three sections to give your buns a little volume.
  4. Softly twist each section into a bun–the messier the better.
  5. Secure the bun with a few bobby pins. Usually four to anchor all sides should do it. Finish with hairspray (we love Garnier Fructis Style Full Control Anti-Humidity Hairspray).                                                                                                            http://www.makeup.com/quick-low-key-hairstyles/

Messy Fishtail Braid

messy fishtail braid how to
Here at MDC, we believe a fishtail braid is worn best with a bit of muss and minimal fuss. Here’s how we create the perfectly imperfect fishtail braid.
Get the Look:
  1. Pull hair to one side and divide into two even sections.
  2. Grab a small piece of hair from the outside of one section and cross it over so falls into the middle of the divide in your hair. Repeat on the other side.
  3. Repeat step two, alternating sides, down the length of your hair.
  4. Secure with a hair tie at the ends.
  5. Pull on both sides of the braid and run your fingers up and down the braid, to give it a slightly disheveled look.                                                                                       http://www.makeup.com/quick-low-key-hairstyles/

the multi-braided bun and the braided half-do tutorials

The countdown to your New Year’s Eve bash has begun. You’re just hours away from pop, fizz, clink, and you’ve got a stunning ensemble ready to go, a killer cat eye to pair it with and maybe even a sparkly champagne manicure to show off. All that’s left is a New Year’s Eve party worthy ‘do and you’ll be celebrating the start of 2014 in style. Since the braid played a starring role in 2013 and shows no signs of giving up the stage in 2014, we called in two of our favorite hair masters, Tara Shakespeare and Emma Willis, to show us some braided hairstyles fit for an NYE fête.

The Multi-Braided Bun

braided updos
  1. Section off ¼ of your hair from behind one of your ears. French braid that section.
  2. Pull the top section into a sock bun. Leave two small sections of hair out of the bun, you’ll braid those later.
  3. Wrap the French braid around the front of the sock bun and pin it into the bun.
  4. Braid a small section of the remaining loose hair from behind the other ear. Wrap it around the back of the bun and pin in place.
  5. Braid the final piece in front and pin it into the bun. Professional hair artist Emma Willis smoothed down a few flyways and set it all in place with a spritz of L’Oréal Elnett Hairspray Extra Strong Hold.

The Braided Half-Do

braided updos

  1. Section the hair at the top your head into three parts.
  2. Section the back from ear to ear. Secure the top section and the back with a hair tie or clip.
  3. Begin French braiding on of the sides. Once you get past your ear, transition to a regular braid. Repeat on the other side and tie off the ends.
  4. Spray hair with a heat protectant like Matrix Biolage Thermal Active Setting Spray or Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray and flat iron the back until smooth.
  5. Backcomb the middle section. For extra body, blast the roots with a thickening spray first. Professional hair stylist Tara Shakespeare used Redken Quick Tease 15 to create lift.
  6. Pull the braids to meet in the middle and secure them with bobby pins over the top section. Insert the bobby pins directly into the center of the braid to hide the pins.

6 Secrets to Keeping Your Hair Color Bright and Beautiful

how to keep hair color from fading
Fresh highlights have a way of making us feel like a million bucks. Which is a good thing, because sometimes it feels like that’s what it’s going to cost to maintain those glorious golden locks. Because when your hair color is bright and vibrant you hold your head just a little a bit higher. And you can’t really put a price on that. You can, however, make an ardent effort to stretch the time between salon visits. We caught up with NYC-based hair colorist extraordinaire Kyle White and asked him to spill his secrets for making hair color shine on for as long as possible.

1. Fight damage inside and out.

White finds that hair health is number one when it comes to keeping your color bright and beautiful. “When hair is damaged, the cuticle gets holes in it and color molecules slip out the holes. Healthy hair has no holes, so it holds color longer and better. Just like everything else, healthy hair starts from the inside out so try a hair vitamin like Biotin. And keep hair healthy by doing a deep conditioning mask once a week.” A few minutes with Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Strength Reconstructing Butter or Matrix Biolage Aqua-Immersion Creme Masque will do wonders for distressed strands.

2. Beat the heat.

“In exactly the same way that your black or bright colored clothes fade in the hot washer and dryer, heat styling fades your hair color.” Of course, avoiding heat styling all together would be the best way to go, but that’s not very realistic. Do, however, be sure to use a thermal protector whenever you use hot tools. White says to look for one that is also a leave-in treatment with protein and vitamins like It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product or L’Oréal Advanced Haircare Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray.

3. Use the right tools.

Bet you didn’t think your hairbrush could be the source that’s stripping your color. Well, you thought wrong. According to White, “Metal brushes and bristles heat up from your blow dryer and become an iron. Sure, your hair dries in a flash, but you sacrifice the brightness of your hair color and risk tons of breakage.” White recommends natural bristle brushes over metal ones and says the barrel of the brush can be wooden, ceramic, even plastic, but never metal.

4. Offer your hair the same protection you give your skin.

“The sun fades paint jobs on cars and the cushions on patio furniture; it does the same to your hair color,” notes White. Just like you use SPF to protect your face and body from the sun, you should use sunscreen on your hair every time you wash, even in the winter. And if you’re going to be in direct sunlight, like at the beach, use a sunscreen for your hair and cover your head with a hat or scarf. Try a spray like Kérastase Soleil Huile Céleste or an oil like Kiehl’s Color-Protect Shine Infusing Hair Oil Treatment.

5. Ease up on shampooing.

“After sun exposure, frequent shampooing is the second biggest fader of hair color.” White suggests cutting back on shampoos. Instead, turn to the modern day miracle worker: dry shampoo. (Some favorites include Oscar Blandi Pronto, Pureoology Fresh Approach and these expert-approved dry shampoos.) And remember, “Your scalp’s natural oils are Mother Nature’s deep conditioner.” Embracing those natural oils will save your color, the health of your hair and your blow out.

6. Watch your water.

The very water you wash with could also be the culprit for dulling hair color. White says, “Well water, rusty pipes in old Manhattan buildings, and impurities in the water we shower with can change your hair color, and in cases of the very blonde, sometimes drastically.” If your home uses well water and you are able to, White suggests installing a filtration system for the whole house. You can also swap out your regular showerhead for one that filters the water. White’s a fan of the T3 Source Showerhead Filter because it removes chlorine (a sworn enemy of colored hair) and other chemicals to improve hair color and hair color retention.

3 Ponytail Styles: Pump Up Your Pony

Oh, ponytail: the beloved style that’s tried, true, and always there for you when you’re greasy, lazy or only have 20 seconds to style your hair. We’ve been wearing ponytails for as long as we can remember, so it’s only about time this classic ‘do gets an adult update. Here are three of our favorite twists on the look, to help you take your ponytail to the next level.

The Textured Side Ponytail

messy ponytail
This pretty pony, created by Kérastase TECH Artistic Director Nina Dimachki, is a romantic take on the trusted look. We caught up with Dimachki for all the details on how to recreate the style at home.
Get the Look:
1) Begin with clean, dry hair. Prime with Kérastase Ciment Thérmique, mid lengths to ends, to protect from heat styling. Follow with a generous amount of Kérastase Spray A Porter or other beach spray to get that texturized effect.
2) Curl the hair with a 1” iron in small sections and then apply another light layer of Kérastase Spray A Porter and rake through curls with fingers.
3) Create a “not so perfect” side ponytail by gathering hair loosely at the opposite side of your part at the nape area near the hairline. Allow soft pieces to fall out naturally.
4) Make a braid using a small ribbon of hair from the ponytail. Wrap the braid around the ponytail several times creating a “braid cuff” and secure with a bobby pin.
5) Use your fingers to tussle the ends of your ponytail and enhance the texture. Finish with hairspray.
Complete the Look: To accompany your romantic style, Dimachki suggests “a peachy cheek with a rosylip stain.”

The Crimped Ponytail

textured ponytail hairstyleThis modern ponytail, seen at Marios Schwab Fall 2013, is the perfect example of subtle crimping. To help you achieve the effect at home, we got the lowdown from L’Oréal Professionnel Artist, Joseph DiMaggio.
Get the Look:
 1) Start by crimping hair then creating a center part. Pull hair back over ears, securing into a low ponytail.
 2) Take sections from underneath ponytail and wrap around the elastic. Use a strong hold hairspray such as L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium 3 as you wrap hair. Secure with a U-pin or bobby pin.
3) Finish by applying a texturizing powder such as L’Oréal Professionnel True Grip throughout your hair to create some natural dimension, making sure to have a few falling pieces near the face.
Complete the Look: To complement your modern hairstyle, opt for fresh minimal makeup.

The Voluminous Ponytail

smooth volume ponytail hair style
Give your pony some polished, retro appeal with this high-volume style. Here’s how to recreate it, courtesy of Kérastase TECH Artistic Director Nina Dimachki.
Get the Look:
1) Begin with clean, dry hair and apply a dollop of volumizing mousse from roots to ends. Tussle dry hair until product is completely dry.
2) Set the hair with a jumbo curling iron (1¼”) or jumbo hot rollers. Once the curls have cooled completely, brush thoroughly. Back comb/tease at the root area on the top, crown and top of the sides to create a cushion effect for the ponytail.
3) Gather hair at the back of the head. Gently brush while making sure to keep the back combing/teasing in tact. To smooth flyaway hairs, spray a bit of hairspray onto the brush before brushing. Secure with an elastic.
4)  Use a small ribbon of hair to wrap around ponytail and conceal the elastic. Secure the ends with a bobby pin. For additional fullness at the lengths of ponytail, back comb/tease inside the ponytail at the top (toward the tail wrap) and gently smooth over with brush.
Complete the Look: While the volume of this ponytail keeps the look “feminine and approachable,” Dimachki suggests “crisp makeup,” like “a bold red lip” or “striking eyeliner” to complement this style.
